Two large-scale, Saudi-backed real estate developments have drawn protests in Qudsaya, a suburb of Rural Damascus, over disputed land ownership and past expropriations. Abyat Hills, developed by Saudi Abyat Real Estate Investment Company in partnership with Syria’s General Housing Establishment, launched in June 2026. Located in the E3 area of Qudsaya, the project covers approximately 380,000 square meters including over 2,000 housing units, with completion planned within four years.
