Two large-scale, Saudi-backed real estate developments have drawn protests in Qudsaya, a suburb of Rural Damascus, over disputed land ownership and past expropriations. Abyat Hills, developed by Saudi Abyat Real Estate Investment Company in partnership with Syria’s General Housing Establishment, launched in June 2026.
