The MERI Forum and Its Approach to the Kurdish Issue in Syria 2026-10-12 Dr. Abdel Hakim Bachar I received an invitation from the Middle East Research Institute (MERI) to participate in its 2026 forum, scheduled for October 12–13. However, after reviewing the program, I decided not to attend because of what I perceived as an imbalance in its approach to the Kurdish issue in Syria, particularly in terms of representing the different Kurdish political views and orientations.
