Syrian civilians continued to face a significant threat from unexploded ordinance (UXO), cluster munitions, and other war remnants in 2025, despite no newly recorded use of cluster munitions in the country since the fall of the Assad regime in late 2024, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR). In an Oct. 5 statement, SNHR highlighted findings from the Cluster Munition Monitor 2026 report, which recorded 117 people killed or injured worldwide by cluster munition remnants in 2025.
