Japan announced Sept. 29 it would lift asset-freezing measures and other restrictions on 16 Syrian entities, including the Ministries of Defense and Interior, while maintaining sanctions on 59 individuals, including former regime leader Bashar al-Assad, and 15 entities affiliated with him.
